What is digital camera?

It's easy to understand the booming business that digital camera manufacturers are doing these days. The host of easy-to-use personal and business publishing applications, the dramatic expansion of the Web and its insatiable appetite for visual images, and the proliferation of inexpensive printers capable of photo-realistic output make a digital camera an enticing add-on. Those factors, combined with improving image quality and falling prices, put the digital camera on the cusp of becoming a standard peripheral for a home or business PC.
In principal, a digital camera is similar to a traditional film-based camera. There's a viewfinder to aim it, a lens to focus the image onto a light-sensitive device, some means by which several images can be stored and removed for later use, and the whole lot is fitted into a box. In a conventional camera, light-sensitive film captures images and is used to store them after chemical development. Digital photography uses a combination of advanced image sensor technology and memory storage, which allows images to be captured in a digital format that is available instantly - with no need for a "development" process.

Digital Camera Principles
Although the principle may be the same as a film camera, the inner workings of a digital camera are quite different, the imaging being performed either by a charge coupled device (CCD) orCMOS (complementary metal-oxide semiconductor) sensors. Each sensor element converts light into a voltage proportional to the brightness which is passed into an analogue-to-digital converter (ADC) which translates the fluctuations of the CCD into discrete binary code. The digital output of the ADC is sent to a digital signal processor (DSP) which adjusts contrast and detail, and compresses the image before sending it to the storage medium. The brighter the light, the higher the voltage and the brighter the resulting computer pixel. The more elements, the higher the resolution, and the greater the detail that can be captured.
This entire process is very environment-friendly. The CCD or CMOS sensors are fixed in place and it can go on taking photos for the lifetime of the camera. There's no need to wind film between two spools either, which helps minimise the number of moving parts.

Kodak Digital Camera Result

This week, we’re going back into the barrel of digital photo frames, and to kick things off, we’ve got a Kodak that should handle most of your needs nicely.  It’s the KodakEasyshare P825, and though it’s a pretty nice frame, it’s going to be missing a few things that makes it a strange package.
The Kodak Easyshare P825 digital photo frame is an eight inch frame that offers five hundred and twelve meg of onboard memory with support for USB drives and Secure Digital memory cards, automatic resizing of pictures to ensure they fit the frame, three different kinds of transition and durations to get a custom display of your photos.
Now here’s where the weird part comes in–the Kodak Easyshare P825 does NOT have a brightness control or timer settings, so that you can have it turn off, say, late at night. Indeed, from what I can gather, it simply shuts off after a certain amount of time has passed so that it may well shut down while viewing. Those would be features that you’d think would be standard, but don’t seem to be available here.
Still though, the frame is nice if a bit simple, and the display is a bit small but, overall, the whole package is at least pretty decent. And since you’ll only pay seventy five bucks for this with free shipping out at Amazon, you’ll be doing fairly well here.  The Kodak EasyShare P825 isn’t the best frame you’ll find, but it’s far from the worst.

About Digital Camera



A camera that stores images digitally rather than recording them on film. Once a picture has been taken, it can be downloaded to a computer system, and then manipulated with a graphics program and printed. Unlike film photographs, which have an almost infinite resolution, digital photos are limited by the amount of memory in the camera, the optical resolution of the digitizing mechanism, and, finally, by the resolution of the final output device. Even the best digital cameras connected to the best printers cannot produce film-quality photos. However, if the final output device is a laser printer, it doesn't really matter whether you take a real photo and then scan it, or take a digital photo. In both cases, the image must eventually be reduced to the resolution of the printer.
The big advantage of digital cameras is that making photos is both inexpensive and fast because there is no film processing. Interestingly, one of the biggest boosters of digital photography is Kodak, the largest producer of film. Kodak developed the Kodak PhotoCD format, which has become the de facto standard for storing digital photographs.
