What affects wireless internet access?

Wireless internet utilizes radio frequencies (RF) to function. The strength of your wireless signal depends on several elements, which can disrupt your wireless internet connection by interfering with the signal being sent by your wireless router
•Obstacles to a strong wireless
connection include walls, floors, and
lighting installations. To maximize the
strength of your wireless signal at
home, place your wireless router as far
above the floor as possible and away
from walls.
•Keep your company's wireless router
in a centralized location in the
workplace. Strategically placed wireless
repeater units may be necessary to
provide good reception throughout the
whole office.
•Wireless electronic appliances, like
cordless phones and microwaves, may
interfere with your wireless signal,
depending on the frequency the
appliances utilize. Appliances, which use the 900MHz band will not disrupt
your wireless internet connection.
•Your computer's ability to connect
back to your wireless router plays an
important role in the strength of your
wireless signal. Purchasing an
external wireless antenna for your
computer will help you improve your
computer's ability to connect with your
wireless router.
