7Steps To Upgrade Wordpress

WordPress is a blogging tool for web hosts and it is used by thousands of web bloggers everyday. Using WordPress, even you can create a blog that can be made visible to the world through the internet. Periodic upgrades are required to keep the website or blog refreshed as well as for some security features. Here are some important and useful steps needed to upgrade WordPress.
Step 1: Firstly, before starting the WordPress upgrade, you should check the operating system of your computer. You should install the new version of PHP script language and also an open database source like MySQL, etc. Now, to access your blog, you should log in to WordPress.
Step 2: Make a backup for your database that contains the links, blog posts, web pages as well as the comments. Now, go to “phpMyAdmin” and follow the instructions to select the required database and then click on Save.
Step 3: All WordPress files and database located in your web directory and “.htaccess” file should be saved. If you have an FTP program file, then use it to download the important WordPress files from the internet and save it as a backup on the hard disk of your computer. If you don’t have FTP program, then you are advised to install one and follow the given instructions.
Step 4: You must ensure that the saved backup file can be used again. Keep a track of where the backup files have been saved on the local disk of your computer. The files can be found on the sub folders.
Step 5: Now, go to the administration control panel and select “Plug-ins”. Once done, deactivate all other plugins on your WordPress page.
Step 6: Once you have completed the above mentioned steps, download the upgraded version of WordPress package. This can be done by clicking on the download option on the WordPress website. Once done, a new WordPress folder will be created on your computer.
Step 7: Now, delete all the old files if the upload does not overwrite the existing files on your computer. If you have problems, then you can use the FTP client to complete downloading. Once WordPress is upgraded, you should upload the new files. This way, WordPress can be upgraded.
