What Is Identity Truth?

Identity Truth is an identity protection plan that has comprehensive monitoring services. Although they have a partnership with Experian, they realize that simple credit monitoring just isn’t enough.
With that in mind, they scour databases looking for your digital footprint on things like utilities, application for rentals, phone numbers and more. Their goal is to find these footprints and put a stop to identity theft at the earliest possible moment.
New credit accounts are only one way identity thieves can attack you. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) estimates that only 12% of last year’s Identity fraud was “new account credit” related. They can lease apartments, open accounts with utilities, get a driver’s license, medical treatment and even commit a crime - all while pretending to be you.
Having a protection plan with intensive scanning becomes a critical factor in catching identity theft early. Be aware that there is nothing that can 100% protect you from having your identity stolen.
They will set fraud alerts for you and keep them renewed. Also you’ll be opted-out of pre-approved credit offers. You can do these things yourself for free, but Identity Truth includes them as an extra service and convenience for you.
Because of their affiliation with Experian, you’ll have access to your Experian credit report whenever you need it, not just once a year. However, you should still order your annual free credit reports from Equifax and Transunion because there can be errors with one credit bureau that don’t show up on the others. Get them at http://annualcrediterport.com .
Identity Truth has a dashboard you can log into and see your identity status and if there are any changes you need to be aware of. It gives you meaningful information about the stream of data traffic that can personally affect your identity. Your dashboard will be kept updated with the latest data breaches so you can see if you’re affected. You can track old and new data breaches yourself athttp://www.privacyrights.org/ar/ChronDataBreaches.htm.

You’ll get alerts by text messages and emails if your private data has been compromised or if your identity has been misused. They will then assess your risk. No need to wonder what to do next - they’ll give you very personalized recommendations on how to proceed.
Identity Truth doesn’t have an identity theft recovery service like LifeLock or ID Watchdog. You have to do the process yourself. But they do have Identity Theft Insurance. You’ll get reimbursement for expenses related to identity recovery – even lost wages – with comprehensive insurance coverage through AIG Companies.
Their website is a bit hard to navigate and easily find the features. I like to be able to find out refund policies and guarantees without having to search over and over again. Even the site map isn’t too helpful.
At $9.99 a month, it is very reasonably priced although you do have to initially enroll for at least 3 months which is a $29.97 minimum.
If you’re looking for an identity theft protection plan that has thorough monitoring services and a dashboardto easily keep track of everything, Identity Truth is a good choice.
